Samurai Bar Tape is a traditional woven handlebar tape inspired by the classic Japanese tsukamaki technique, used to wrap the handles of samurai katana swords. The weave provides a particularly secure, textured grip, with the fabric “locking” against itself as it is wrapped.
Unlike modern foam- or gel-based handlebar tape, Samurai tape is made from sturdy, flat-woven cotton with no padding. This gives you direct contact with the handlebars and an authentic, minimalist look - popular on classic road bikes, track bikes, and retro builds. The surface improves over time and can develop a natural patina with use.
